This frenetic, drop-D rocker came about very quickly during a time of really heavy creativity.
I rarely write more than two or three songs at a time opting to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. I believe I pushed out four or five songs in the span of a couple of weeks when I wrote this one.
Also of note is the amount of percussion I bothered to throw down. I was able to have more fun with the 8-track and really piled on the shite.
The fuzzy, twangy lead guitar track is courtesy of the legendary Danelectro "Amp-in-Case" Model 1448--just like "Skunk" Baxter on "Reeling in the Years".
lyrics
the way you look/the way i can wake up on any side of the bed/long summer shadows don't always follow/i thought it'd be easier by now/thought it'd be easier somehow
unhappiness/sometimes i digress/
am i a mess/yes i'm a mess
check the machine/electric, lifeless and always lacking the answer/while the chemicals just do what's asked of them
i only care what happens when it's past you bedtime/it's past your bedtime
unhappiness/sometimes i digress/
am i a mess/yes i'm a mess
